Lead Behavior Technician Program
The Active Steps Lead Behavior Technician position would be designed for those people who have some experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and who would like to further their career.
The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity to further develop skill sets and take on additional responsibilities that will serve as a launch pad for advancing their career in the ABA sector.
It should be noted that pre-qualifying as a LBT would not automatically mean a LBT position is available, but rather that when a position becomes available, a candidate is eligible to apply. That said, entry into the program will be managed in order that there is a close match between candidate and available position numbers so as to maximize opportunity for the candidate. The process for qualifying as a LBT has been devised to be both informative, meaningful and challenging.
Outline of the LBT Job Duties
A candidate will hold a current accredited Behavior Technician Credential. Options include:
Existing and Ongoing Educational Requirements
A candidate must have completed, or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a subject related to ABA.

This is not an examination, but rather a knowledge check. It is an online exercise that serves to determine where the ABA knowledge related strengths and challenges can be determined to better understand where ongoing learning can be strengthened.
LBT Interview
Once all other requirements have been met, the candidate will attend an interview conducted by a small group consisting of a supervisor level staff and at least one peer level staff.

- Provide an agreed minimum number of billable service hours
- Provide ongoing on the job BT mentoring and skill development
- Provide BT substitute services to help cover sick and vacation time
- Learn and provide parent education and social skills services
- Assist with the recruitment and on-boarding of new staff
A candidate will hold a current accredited Behavior Technician Credential. Options include:
- Behavior Technician-Level One (College of Applied Human Services)
- Applied Behavior Analyst Technician (QABA)
- Registered Behavior Technician (BACB)
- Board Certified Autism Technician (BICC)
