What if I would like to opt out of getting the vaccine and I am an Active Steps employee?
NOTE: If you are pregnant, then you MUST consult your physician as to whether you should receive the vaccine.
We understand that the past year has been a challenge and that the development of the vaccine has been accelerated as a result of the urgency of the pandemic. Because of this, we understand that some individuals may have concerns as to the effectiveness of the vaccine. As such, they may be unsure as to whether they want to have the COVID-19 vaccine.
Active Steps will be determining a point in time at which all staff should have been able to receive the vaccine. At that point (yet to be determined) if you opt out of the vaccine, then you will only be able to conduct telehealth sessions with your clients when available.

We hope the following information will serve as a guideline going forward.
- All Active Steps staff who have direct contact with families and clients are eligible to receive the vaccine now.
- Active Steps will be requiring all staff who have direct contact with clients and families to get vaccinated. If you have read all information on this page and still have questions regarding this, please contact Michael Reid ([email protected]).
- The Active Steps Digital ID system will be required in many regions in order to qualify for the vaccine when you arrive. If you experience any issues with this, please let us know so we can assist. You may also be required to provide proof of employment (e.g. Paystub)
- Please make sure you retain the paperwork you receive when you receive your vaccination. A copy of this will be required as proof of vaccination. Once a staff has completed the vaccination process, their Digital ID will be changed to display "COVID Vaccinated"
- Please be aware that, even when you are fully vaccinated, you must continue to observe all PPP precautions and practices until further notice. Although these precautions are compulsory whilst at work, we respectfully ask that you also observe safe practice outside of your work life in the interest of your, your colleagues and your client's well being.
